Beryllium (Be) is a brittle, steel-gray alkaline earth metal. Beryllium is strong, lightweight, and has a modulus of elasticity 50% greater than steel.  It has non-magnetic properties and has higher specific heat than any metal.  Beryllium retains excellent properties at elevated and cryogenic temperatures, making this fascinating metal an ideal thermal conductor.  Because of its low density and high thermal conductivity, beryllium has many applications in the aerospace and military industries.  It is frequently used as a material in acoustic applications for its damping properties and high stiffness-to-weight ratio.

Applications of High Purity Metal Beryllium

As a new material, beryllium has been paid more and more attention. Beryllium is an indispensable precious material in atomic energy, rocket, missile, aviation, space navigation and metallurgical industry.

1. Among all metals, beryllium has the strongest ability to pass X-rays and is known as metallic glass, so beryllium is an irreplaceable material for manufacturing X-ray tube small Windows.

2. Beryllium is a treasure of the atomic energy industry. In atomic reactors, beryllium is a neutron source that can provide a large number of neutron shells (hundreds of thousands of neutrons per second); Beryllium has a strong slowing effect on fast neutrons, which can make the fission reaction continue, so beryllium is the best neutron moderator in atomic reactors.
