Europium (Eu) Foil

Product Code : RE-Eu-5N-SF

Europium is a soft silvery metal, both are and expensive. It is the most reactive of the lanthanide group: it tarnishes quickly in air at room temperature, burns at about 150℃ to 180℃ and reacts readly with water.

Europium Metal is available as disc, granules, ingot, pellets, pieces, powder , rod, wire, and sputtering target.  Typical and custom packaging is available. Ultra high purity and high purity forms also include metal powder, submicron powder and nanoscale, quantum dots, targets for thin film deposition, pellets for evaporation and single crystal or polycrystalline forms. Elements can also be introduced into alloys or other systems as fluorides, oxides or chlorides or as solutions. Europium metal is generally immediately available in most volumes. In energy efficient fluorescent lighting, Europium provides not only the neccessary red, but also the blue.

Features

Europium is one of the most reactive rare earth metals. In air, the shiny silvery metal starts immediately. At temperatures above 150 ° C it ignites and burns with red flame to the sesquioxide Eu2O3. In water, it reacts with evolution of hydrogen to the hydroxide. With a density of 5,244 g / cm3 Europium is the lightest heavy metal, the next-ever lighter titanium (4,507 g / cm3) is already one of the light metals.

Applications of Europium (Eu) Foil

- Europium is used in the printing of euro banknotes. It glows red under UV light and frogeries can be detected by lack of this red glow

- Europium is used in manufacture of fluorescent glass

- Europium is used low-energy light bulbs contained a little amount of europium to give more natural light by balancing the blue light with a little red light

- Europium is used as excellent absorber of neutrons, making it valuable in control rods for nuclear reactors

- Europium-doped plastic is used as a laser material

- Europium-doped plastic is used in making thin super-conducting alloys

- Europium salts are used for newer phosphorescent powder and paints

- Europium is used in quantum memory chips which can reliably store information for days at a time; these could allow sensitive quantum data to be stored to a hard disk-like device and shipped around the country

- Europium fluorescence is used to interrogate biomolecular interactions in drug-discovery screens

- Europium is used in manufacture of fluorescent glass

Packing of Europium (Eu) Foil

Standard Packing:

Typical bulk packaging includes palletized plastic 5 gallon/25 kg. pails, fiber and steel drums to 1 ton super sacks in full container (FCL) or truck load (T/L) quantities. Research and sample quantities and hygroscopic, oxidizing or other air sensitive materials may be packaged under argon or vacuum. Solutions are packaged in polypropylene, plastic or glass jars up to palletized 440 gallon liquid totes Special package is available on request.

ATTs’ Europium (Eu) Foil is carefully handled to minimize damage during storage and transportation and to preserve the quality of our products in their original condition.
