This metal has been known since prehistoric times Gold is a soft metal with a characteristic yellow color. Most mined gold is stored as bullion. It is the most malleable and ductile of any element. It is unaffected by air, water, alkalis and acids, with the exception of "aqua regia", HNO₃/HCl. The fact that it is chemically unreactive means that it is often found in its natural state. It is a good thermal and electrical conductor and has excellent reflective properties to both light and infrared. It has an abundance in the earth's crust of 0.0011 ppm.

ATT specializes in supplying seamless Gold tubing with a variety of dimensions including round, rectangular, square, and oval in numerous standard diameters from 0.02 to 6.0 inches and wall thicknesses from 0.003 to 0.500 inches. Tubing can be further processed to produce rings, washers, sleeves and sheaths. Custom configurations are also available. Materials include most metals including the rare earth metals and other advanced materials. Tubes can also be produced from custom alloys for commercial and research applications and for new proprietary technologies. Other available shapes include bar or plate form, as well as custom machined shapes and through other processes such as nanoparticles and in the form of solutions and organometallics. ATT produces to many standard grades when applicable, including Mil Spec (military grade); ACS, Reagent and Technical Grade; Food, Agricultural and Pharmaceutical Grade; Optical Grade, USP and EP/BP (European Pharmacopoeia/British Pharmacopoeia) and follows applicable ASTM testing standards. Applications of Gold Tube

Gold is used in connectors for more expensive electronic cables, such as audio, video and USB cables. The benefits of using gold versus other connector metals such as tin are debated in these applications; Gold connectors are often criticized by audiovisual experts as unnecessary for most consumers and seen as a marketing ploy. However, the use of gold is still common in other applications of electronic sliding contacts in high humidity or corrosive atmospheres, and for contacts where the cost of failure is very high (certain computers, communications equipment, spacecraft, jet aircraft engines).

Typical bulk packaging includes palletized plastic 5 gallon/25 kg. pails, fiber and steel drums to 1 ton super sacks in full container (FCL) or truck load (T/L) quantities. Research and sample quantities and hygroscopic, oxidizing or other air sensitive materials may be packaged under argon or vacuum. Solutions are packaged in polypropylene, plastic or glass jars up to palletized 440 gallon liquid totes Special package is available on request.
